Elisabeth Irwin (1880–1942) was an American educator and psychologist. She was born in Brooklyn and studied at Smith College and Columbia University. While in New York, Irwin frequented the Heterodoxy club meetings, a feminist debate society based in Greenwich Village in the early 20th century. She was active in the Public Education Association in New York, where she revised curricula, and eventually founded the Little Red School House curriculum in 1921. The School House was an experiment in progressive education in the public school system, which was successful even through funding cuts by the city. Irwin was openly gay.
